From Mother Jan...
Well, last week was a roller coaster; this week is a sled! Stay safe out there.
As we enter into the week of the election, I pray all of you will vote. I also pray that no matter the outcome all of you will be peaceful and civil. There is certain to be high emotions and varying opinions. We have to accept the outcome. At some level, we also must remember that God has this! I am not naive or fatalistic; I just understand that God has the big picture and the plan. That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t do our part; we do. We vote! We are Christ in the world. The light of Christ shines through us to others; be aware of the light you shine and make it brilliant.
As Julia of Norwich said, “All shall well, all shall be well, all manner of things shall be well.”
A prayer for the election:
Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide the people of the United States (or of this community) in the election of officials and representatives; that, by faithful administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation be enabled to fulfill your purposes; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BCP)
A prayer for the Search for a new Rector:
Almighty God, look graciously on the people of St. Andrew’s. Be with us and lead us as we seek the next rector for our church. We ask your direction and guidance for those who shall choose our new spiritual leader, that we may receive an upright and faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries. Grant us perception, faithfulness, and joy, so that we may hear your voice in all our deliberations. Grant us also the desire and the ability to truly hear each other and those who have entrusted us with this process. Give us courage to respond and act as you lead us.
Come Holy Spirit.
We pray this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
If you have not sent in your pledge form yet, please give prayerful consideration to an amount that is meaningful to you, complete the form, and return it to the church as soon as possible. Treasurer, Norm Todd, and I will be working on the budget for 2021 and we need your input.
It is with that continual Attitude of Gratitude that we are able to be church in the world. God bless you, my friends.
