Presents for Palomas! St. Andrew's Shoebox Ministry

Thank you St. Andrews for your generosity and servant's heart!
This year we stuffed 150 gift boxes, and collected 5 bins full of toiletries, school supplies, blankets, and baby sweaters for the children in Puerto Palomas, Mexico. The excitement, joy, and affection received by the children is magical.
Special blessings to Bob and Martha Anderson for taking the items to Susan Hutchins in Columbus this and every year.
The shoebox ministry is a children’s ministry. Its primary purpose is to aid the underserved children in Palomas, Mexico.
Year round, the St. Andrews congregation purchases and collects toys, games, puzzles, hats, gloves, scarfs, stuffed animals, and toiletries. These are new items that are small enough to fit in a shoebox.
In July our parishioners start gathering up shoeboxes, and wrapping them in bright Christmas paper. We also host “shoebox wrapping” parties throughout the fall.
In late November, the congregation is invited to gather at St. Andrews for the annual Christmas Box Stuffing festivity. All boxes are age and gender specific, and are hand packed and marked accordingly.
The majority of these boxes are then sent to the children of Palomas, Mexico.
Susan Hutchins, our missionary for the Rio Grande Borderland Ministry, distributes the Christmas boxes. Currently there are about 650-700 elementary students at the Palomas Elementary school.
